Psychology students’ life satisfaction and academic commitment at UNAN-León

Life satisfaction and academic commitment are factors, even if correlated, that do not necessarily affect students’ wellbeing and achievement, thus not effectively reaching competent professional development and life projects. Life satisfaction is how much a person is satisfied with their life, considering social relations, family, personal growth and health. Academic commitment refers to seeking better results in studies, facing academic challenges positively. This research presents qualitative results stating if there is a bond on academic commitment with life satisfaction Psychology students at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua, León (UNAN-León) during April to October 2019. For this aim, a study population was characterized and the academic commitment level, its dimensions and life satisfaction were measured. There were 108 students being part of the sample. Ultimately, a significant association was found between life satisfaction and academic commitment, defining them as imperative for university students’ success and wellbeing.
