Abstract

Since the return to the presidency of Nicaragua in 2007, now as the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity (GRUN, for its acronym in Spanish), the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN, for its acronym in Spanish) during its first stage as a revolutionary government resumed the social justice programs promoted during the eighties, now renewed into State Policies, based on the National Plan for Human Development. This has meant the restitution of economic, social, and cultural rights for Nicaraguan people, which had been postponed or annulled by the governments that led the country between 1990 and 2006 period. Among them is the right to education for the historically marginalized inhabitants in rural areas. This paper focuses on the progress made in education since 2007, with organizational and pedagogical experiences aimed at restoring the right to education through the creation of the Distance Education in rural areas, a program that is an excellent alternative to serve the population into rural communities. At the end of the year 2021, the fourth promotion of high school graduates in this modality was carried out, who have continued their academic training from higher education, technical education and teacher training, levels of studies that have allowed them to acquire the skills for labor insertion for the benefit and development of their families and communities.
